Why Glass Awnings Need Specialized Care in Vancouver
Vancouver’s combination of rainfall and airborne debris creates tough conditions for glass awnings. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the city experiences over 1,100 millimetres of precipitation annually, much of it carrying organic residue and pollen from nearby trees.
Over time, dirt, bird droppings, and moss can stain the glass surface or block light to patios, balconies, and storefronts. Without routine cleaning, residue buildup may also corrode frame coatings or compromise silicone seals.
Regular glass awning cleaning helps to:
- Keep light reaching patios, balconies, and storefronts
- Stop dirt, bird droppings, and moss from staining the glass and wearing down frame coatings and silicone seals
After-Cleaning Maintenance Tips
- Remove leaves or pine needles regularly to avoid scratches or water spots
- Rinse gently with a hose every few months to reduce pollen buildup
- Inspect metal frames and silicone joints for early signs of wear
- Schedule a professional clean at least once per year, preferably before heavy fall rain or pollen season
- When cleaning any exterior glass feature, from awnings to frameless glass railings, use soft tools and deionized water to protect the material

Meet The Founder
Aidan Bar-Lev-Wise
CEO & Founder
I started WashTech in 2020 with a window cleaning kit and a straightforward goal. Build something reliable in a space full of inconsistency. Property owners across Vancouver kept telling me the same thing: contractors don't show up on time, don't communicate, and don't take pride in the work. That gap became WashTech.
Serving Commercial Properties Across Metro Vancouver
WashTech provides reliable commercial window cleaning services throughout Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Whether your property is in the heart of downtown or the surrounding communities, our local team is ready to deliver spotless results.
