Gutter and eavestrough cleaning in Vancouver: a cleared gutter run seen from the roof after a WashTech clean

Gutter and eavestrough cleaning in Vancouver starts at $350 plus GST per visit with WashTech, and we quote every job before we start. The final price depends on your home's height and roof pitch, how much gutter there is, how much debris has built up, and what your downspouts and guards need.

Gutters and eavestroughs are the same thing, and eavestrough is the word many Canadians use. This guide covers what a standard clean includes, what changes the price, what costs extra, and how to read a gutter cleaning quote so you know what you're paying for.

How Much Does Gutter Cleaning Cost in Vancouver?

Our gutter cleaning visits start at $350 plus GST. That's the minimum for any visit, and each home is quoted from there on its size, height and the state of its gutters.

You'll see the price before the crew starts work. The minimum also covers the whole visit, so adding another service to the same visit, like our window cleaning service, counts toward it.

What's Included in a Gutter Cleaning

Our standard gutter cleaning service clears the gutters and makes sure rainwater can leave the property. Every visit includes:

  • Debris cleared from every run, corner and inside miter
  • Every downspout flushed and flow tested
  • Hangers, joints and fascia checked while the system is open
  • Debris bagged and taken away, with the work area left tidy
  • Before and after photos of every run

The photos show what came out and what the gutters look like afterward, and we walk you through them before the crew leaves.

What Changes the Price

Six things move a gutter cleaning quote: height and roof pitch, the length of gutter, debris, downspouts, guards and access. Each one changes how long the job takes and how the crew sets up.

Height and roof pitch

A two- or three-storey home takes longer to set up and work safely than a bungalow, and a steep roof needs more care. Our crews work at height with the fall protection the job needs, and that setup is part of the price.

How much gutter there is

More gutter means more to clear. A home with long runs on every side takes longer than a compact one with a few short runs.

Debris and trees

Fir needles, cedar fronds, moss and shingle grit collect in Vancouver gutters through the year. A home under heavy tree cover usually has more to clear, and gutters left for a few seasons can hold packed-down debris that takes longer to remove.

Downspouts

Flushing every downspout is part of the standard clean. If a downspout is clogged below the elbow and has to come apart, that's quoted separately, and you'll know what it costs before we take it apart.

Gutter guards

Guards often take longer to clean than open gutters. On most systems we clean gutter guards in place, and removing and reinstalling guards is priced separately when a system needs it.

Access

Tight side yards, fences, slopes, decks and garden beds under the gutters all change how the crew sets up. We also clean gutters on stratas and commercial buildings, where we confirm parking and resident notice first.

What Costs Extra

Anything beyond clearing the gutters and flushing the downspouts is priced separately, and you'll see it on the quote before we start.

ExtraPrice
Gutter basket at a downspout opening$25 per basket
Gutter brightening, which removes tiger striping and oxidation from the outside faceQuoted separately
Downspout disassembly, when a blockage sits below the elbowQuoted on site
Gutter guard removal and reinstallationQuoted separately
Gutter or downspout repairsQuoted separately
Gutter brightening before and after: tiger striping on a gutter's outside face, then the same gutter after brightening

Gutter baskets sit in the downspout openings and catch debris before it reaches the downspout. On a home under trees they can cut down on downspout clogs between cleanings.

Why There's a $350 Minimum, and How to Make It Count

$350 plus GST is the minimum for any visit, and it applies to the whole visit. That gives you two ways to make it count:

  • Combine services. Windows, gutters and other exterior work in the same visit all count toward the minimum.
  • Book the fall clean at the right time. October or early November is ideal, after most leaves have fallen and before the heaviest rain arrives. Our guide to gutter cleaning before winter in Vancouver explains the timing.

How Often Vancouver Gutters Need Cleaning

How often depends mostly on the trees around your home. Homes under fir or cedar collect needles all year and need cleaning more often than homes on open streets with little debris.

The fall clean matters most. More than half of Vancouver's yearly precipitation falls from October through January (Environment and Climate Change Canada, 1991 to 2020 normals), the months when gutters work hardest. Our guide on how often to clean gutters sets out a schedule by season and by tree cover.

Hiring a Crew vs Doing It Yourself

Cleaning gutters yourself saves the cost of a visit and puts you on a ladder, which is where most of the risk sits. In 2024, WorkSafeBC accepted 876 time-loss claims from BC workers for injuries related to falls from ladders, 309 of them serious (WorkSafeBC, 2025).

A one-storey home with level ground and easy access is a reasonable job to take on yourself. For two storeys and up, a steep roof, or gutters you can't reach safely from a ladder on level ground, a crew with fall protection is the safer choice.

How to Read a Gutter Cleaning Quote

A clear gutter cleaning quote lists what's included, what costs extra and who's doing the work. Before you book, check that the quote covers:

  • The full scope: every run cleared and every downspout flushed
  • The extras, each named with a price or marked as quoted on site
  • Debris removal, bagged and taken away
  • Before and after photos, so you can see what was done
  • Proof of liability insurance and the company's WorkSafeBC status
  • The GST, so you know the total

Our guide on checking a cleaner's WorkSafeBC status walks through the clearance letter. WashTech is WorkSafeBC compliant and carries $2 million in liability insurance. To see how local crews compare, read our comparison of gutter cleaning companies in Vancouver.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to clean gutters in BC?

With our crew in Greater Vancouver, gutter cleaning starts at $350 plus GST per visit. The final price depends on height, gutter length, debris, downspouts and access, and we quote every job before we start.

Is gutter cleaning worth paying for?

Gutters that overflow send rainwater down the siding and into the ground beside the foundation. A clean before the rainy season keeps that water moving to the downspouts. Our guide to what happens if you don't clean your gutters covers the damage it can cause.

Do downspouts cost extra?

Flushing every downspout is included in the standard clean. Taking a downspout apart to clear a blockage below the elbow is quoted separately, before we start.

Do gutter guards make cleaning cost more?

They can. Guards often take longer to clean than open gutters, though on most systems we clean them in place. Removing and reinstalling guards is quoted separately when a system needs it.

Is the price before GST?

Yes. The $350 minimum is before GST, so check the GST line on your quote for the total.

Founder and CEO

I started WashTech in 2020 with a window cleaning kit and a straightforward goal. Build something reliable in a space full of inconsistency. Property owners across Vancouver kept telling me the same thing: contractors don't show up on time, don't communicate, and don't take pride in the work. That gap became WashTech.
